One-Way Cab or Round Trip? How to Choose for Outstation Travel in Maharashtra

A one-way cab means you pay only for your drop; a round trip keeps the car and driver with you until you return. Here is how to choose, with real examples from Pune, Mumbai, Solapur and Latur.

When you book an outstation cab, the first choice is one way or round trip. Picking the right one can make a big difference to what you pay and how comfortable the trip is. Here is a simple way to decide.

What is a one-way cab?

With a one-way cab, the car takes you from your pickup to your destination and the trip ends there. You pay only for your journey, not for the car's empty drive back. Older taxi pricing often charged for both ways even when you travelled only one; a one-way fare avoids that.

One-way cabs are ideal when:

  • You are moving or going to stay for a while, for example a student going back to college in Pune from Latur.
  • You are going to the airport or a railway station for an onward journey.
  • You are returning by another way, such as a train or flight, or with family.

What is a round trip?

With a round trip, the car and driver stay with you from the start until you are back home. You decide the stops, the timings and the plan for each day. The fare is based on the number of days and the kilometres you travel.

Round trips are best when:

  • You are coming back the same day or within a few days.
  • You need the car at your destination, for meetings, a wedding with several venues, hospital visits or sightseeing.
  • You are visiting several places in one trip, such as a temple tour from Pune to Pandharpur, Akkalkot and Tuljapur.

Which is cheaper?

It depends on how long you stay:

  • Same day or next day return: a round trip is usually better value than two separate one-way trips, and the car waits for you.
  • Staying three or more days and not using the car: two one-way trips (one each way) can cost less than keeping a car and driver for all those days. Compare both on the fare cards.
  • Need the car every day at the destination: a round trip, since your local driving counts towards the kilometres included each day.

The fare cards on this page show today's one-way and round-trip fares for each car, and you see the exact fare for your date before you book.

Real examples

Latur to Pune, staying in Pune for the semester: a one-way cab. There is no reason to pay for the car to wait.

Pune to Solapur for a family function, back the next evening: a round trip. The car is with you for the function, and you drive back together.

Mumbai to Pune for a day of meetings: a round trip if you need to move between offices in Pune; a one-way drop if you are staying overnight and will take a train back.

What is included and what is extra?

Your booking clearly shows what the fare covers. In general:

  • Kilometres: a round trip includes a set number of kilometres per day; beyond that, extra kilometres are charged at the rate shown when you book.
  • Tolls and parking: paid as actual unless your booking says they are included. The driver gives you the receipts.
  • Driver allowance and night charges: shown on your booking if they apply to your trip.
  • GST: included in the fares shown on our website.

Tips for booking a one-way cab

  • Book ahead for busy dates. Sunday evenings, festival weekends and the start of college terms are the busiest days for one-way trips.
  • Give an exact pickup time. One-way drivers plan their next trip around your drop, so a clear time keeps everything on schedule.
  • Mention all passengers and luggage so we send a car with enough space.
  • Going to a station or airport? Share your train or flight time and we will plan the pickup with a safe buffer.
