Many people who live in Pune fly in and out of Mumbai: there are more international flights, more direct routes and more choice of timings. That makes the Mumbai airport to Pune cab one of the most important transfers in the region.

The drive is about 150 km. At night it can take as little as two and a half hours; in evening traffic it can take four. A pre-booked cab means someone is waiting when you land, your luggage goes straight into the car, and you can sleep all the way home.

How the pickup works

For departures, give yourself plenty of time. Airlines advise reaching the airport 2 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international flights. Add the drive time for your departure hour and a buffer for traffic. For early morning flights, a late-night departure from Pune is usually smooth.

Tips for a stress-free airport transfer

• Double-check the airport and terminal on your ticket, and include it in the booking.
• Keep your phone switched on after landing so the driver can reach you.
• Lots of luggage or a family? Choose a 6-seater MPV so suitcases fit easily.
• Tolls on the Expressway are paid as actual unless your booking says they are included; the driver gives you the receipts.
• Need a stop on the way, for food in Lonavala or to pick someone up? Tell the driver at the start.

Why book a cab instead of a bus or train?

After a long flight, a door-to-door cab saves you from carrying bags between terminals, stations and buses. It is often the most comfortable choice for families, senior citizens and anyone arriving late at night, and for groups of three or four the cost per person is reasonable.

Areas near the Expressway, such as Ravet, Wakad and Hinjewadi, are usually the quickest to reach.
